Smalltalk ─ März 2013 OLOW
Smalltalk mit Valentin von OLOW aus Montreuil, Frankreich.
Please introduce yourself…
My name is Valentin Porcher. I am the co-manager of OLOW, a fashion brand created in 2006 in Montreuil sous bois (France) with Mathieu Sorosina, a good friend I met during my studies.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Inspiration comes from travels, people you met, time passing, state of mind.
Do you work alone or do you collaborate with others? Any collaborations planned?
We are two people managing the brand, but there are about 20 people working on the project every season. We have a webmaster, some graphic designers and artists, a carpenter, sales reps…
We collaborate with artists on a regular basis for exclusive models on our e-shop or for our collections. We work with about 20 artists each year.
We also collaborate with magazines or other brands.
How important is music while working on new stuff?
Music is a daily inspiration. While working or not. Mathieu plays guitar since 15 years and he worked in the music industry before. On our blog, we also post articles about unknown artists.
What music is playing right now?
Right now, i am listening to The Eclectic Moniker. It is morning, it is cold and it is raining. This band makes a music that can be seen as an accident but it is a real sunray to me.
Name a current „anti-trend“.
Hard to say, as we are not following any trend.
Great labels we should know about?
Lots of our friends and people we know are doing cool stuff….I think that the state of mind of these people makes their project even better. The first people I think about are Deux Ex Machina, Vuerich B, Keep …
Great blogs we should visit?
There are a lot of nice blogs, magazines…hard to choose…I’ll name our friends than…Sixand5, Soma, Crumb, Desillusion, Dasswassup … We also have a nice blog, with different interviews of artists, travel reports, musical articles.
